Exit planning for Glide should begin with a specific responsibility: A useful internal app must keep private records away from the wrong user while remaining simple enough for staff to maintain.
Define the boundary
The product is designed to build custom business applications with a visual and AI-assisted workflow. Decide which part of your workflow it will own and keep the rest documented separately. Identify the source of truth, the reviewer, the budget owner and the person who can recover from a mistake.
The operating checklist
- Inventory the inputs, outputs and connected accounts that depend on the service.
- Export the material you own and verify that the export opens outside the original tool.
- Run one representative task through the replacement or manual process.
- Confirm billing cancellation, retention and access removal after the replacement works.
A failure worth testing
A public app preview does not prove access controls are correct. Verify permissions with separate accounts and keep an exportable source of record.
Practice with sample material rather than learning recovery during an urgent incident. Save the original input and the recovery result. If the provider cannot support the exact task, keep that task outside the service until an alternative is tested. A backup or export is useful only when the receiving process can read and use it.
Keep costs visible
Check user types, data sources, update limits and AI usage against the people who will actually access the app.
Track recurring fees and the time required to administer the service. Set a review date and decide what amount of usage or correction work would trigger a change. There is no universal acceptable cost: the decision depends on the value of the completed task and the consequences of a failure.
Make the next decision
Continue when the responsible person can repeat the task, explain its limits and complete the fallback. If one of those conditions fails, repair the instructions or narrow the scope before adding more users. Write the result in a short operating note that someone else can understand without the original installer being present.
